Takayama Localized Walking Tours
Our guides bring Takayama to life through the people, traditions, and stories behind the scenery. We want every guest to leave with more than beautiful photographs: a deeper understanding of Takayama and a lasting love for the city—and for Japan.
The idea behind Localized grew from founder Dai Miyamoto’s travels while studying abroad. Joining tip-based walking tours showed him how a local guide could transform an unfamiliar city into a place he could understand and connect with.
After returning to Japan, Dai launched Tokyo Localized in 2017 while continuing his career in finance. Localized later expanded to Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima. Takayama now carries that same idea forward: discovering a city through the people who call it home.
